The Trading Pit is a CFD prop trading firm that lets traders prove their skills through evaluation challenges before moving to funded accounts. This The Trading Pit review covers how the programs are structured, the leverage and commission figures we could verify, the trading rules, the payout policy, the platforms and the restrictions you should check before signing up. Our rating for the firm is 3.40 out of 5, and the sections below explain where that score comes from.
The Trading Pit overview
The firm offers products in several markets, including FX, metals, indices, crypto, stocks and other commodities. Its model is built around challenges: you pay for an evaluation, trade a simulated account under set rules, and if you meet the targets you can access a funded account and receive a profit split. The firm also runs a CFD Prime program with an 80% profit split, according to its payout policy.
The model is closer to a funded trading program than a traditional broker account. That matters because the rules, not only the spreads, shape how you will actually trade. Read the rule section carefully before you pay for any challenge.
Regulation and safety at The Trading Pit
The regulatory details for The Trading Pit were not confirmed in the data we hold for this review, so we do not name a regulator or licence number here. Prop firms often operate differently from regulated brokers, because you are typically trading the firm's capital under the firm's rules rather than holding funds in a segregated client account. Before paying for any program, check the footer, legal documents and terms on the official website at thetradingpit.com and confirm exactly who you are contracting with.
Account types and challenge structure
The Trading Pit uses several program types, labelled Instant, 1-Step, 2-Steps and 3-Steps. Leverage depends on both the program and the market, and the figures below are the ones listed for each asset class.
| Asset class | Instant | 1-Step | 2-Steps | 3-Steps |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| FX | n/a | 1:50 | 1:50 | n/a |
| Metals | n/a | 1:10 | 1:10 | n/a |
| Indices | n/a | 1:10 | 1:10 | n/a |
| Crypto | n/a | 1:2 | 1:2 | n/a |
| Stocks | n/a | 1:2 | 1:2 | n/a |
| Other commodities | n/a | 1:10 | 1:10 | n/a |
Our database lists a maximum leverage of 1:500, but the challenge figures above are much lower. That gap is common in prop firm programs, so do not assume the headline maximum applies to your account. Lower leverage on crypto and stocks reflects the higher volatility of those markets. The rules also reference account sizes of $5K, $10K, $20K, $50K, $100K and $200K, with different restrictions applying to the larger accounts.
Fees, commissions and spreads
The published commission structure is simple. FX and metals carry a commission of $4 per 1 lot. Indices, crypto, stocks and other commodities show no commission. Spread details were not included in our data, so check the spreads you will actually receive on the trading platform and in the official terms before you start a challenge.
Challenge fees are the main cost to consider. The Trading Pit currently advertises 30% off the listed price for any challenge, which can lower the entry cost. Compare the discounted price with what you would pay for a comparable program elsewhere, and factor in the cost of a failed attempt.
Trading rules you need to follow
The rule set is one of the most important parts of this review. It is detailed, and several restrictions could lead to a failed or suspended account if you are not careful.
Expert advisors and copy trading
Expert advisors (EAs) are allowed, provided they do not break the restricted trading rules. Copying signals that are not your own is not allowed, and neither are latency trading, reverse trading, hedge arbitrage, high-frequency trading or the use of emulators. Copy trading is permitted only between a trader's own TTP accounts, and copying trades between Challenge and Earning accounts is allowed.
News and gap trading
News trading is allowed on CFD accounts of $5K, $10K, $20K and $50K. On the $100K and $200K accounts, you may not open trades or place pending orders within 2 minutes before or after high-impact news. Gap trading rules also prohibit opening trades within 2 hours of market close when the market will stay closed for 2 or more hours, and entering trades ahead of major news, earnings releases or global events that could trigger large gaps.
Inactivity and consistency
If you do not place any trades for 21 straight days, the account is marked inactive and will be suspended. The firm also expects consistent lot sizes that reflect steady, planned trading. Erratic position sizing could be treated as inconsistent behaviour.
Prohibited strategies
- Grid trading and martingale are not allowed.
- Overleveraging and overexposure are prohibited.
- Hyperactive trading and impulsive trade placement are not allowed.
- One-sided betting without proper analysis is not allowed.
- Scalping on CFD Classic accounts requires holding trades for at least 1 minute.
Because several of these rules are judgement-based, such as what counts as "hyperactive," it is worth reading the full rulebook and asking support to clarify anything unclear before you trade live.
Platforms
Among the platform details we could confirm, The Trading Pit offers cTrader, where weekend crypto trading has been enabled. Other platform options were not confirmed in our data, so check the current list in the official documentation before you buy a challenge. Platform choice matters for EAs, because the rule set restricts certain automated behaviour.
Deposits, payouts and withdrawals
The minimum deposit listed in our database is $1,000. For CFD Prime, the published payout terms include an 80% profit split after 5 unique trading days and a minimum payout of $100. The policy also states that you can request a payout every 14 days. Minimum trading days for CFD Prime challenges are listed as 3 profitable days.
The payout schedule has changed across the firm's announcements, and the notices do not fully agree. An announcement from August 6, 2025 described daily payouts, processed within 24 business hours of approval. A later notice described twice-weekly payouts, with cut-off times for Tuesday and Friday payments, and was described as a beta trial. Prime Futures payouts were also changed so that the first payout requires 5 profitable trading days with at least $200 profit per day, down from 10 days. Given these changes, confirm the current payout schedule and any conditions with support before relying on it.
Bonuses and current offers
The current highlight is 30% off the listed price for any challenge. No separate discount code was confirmed in our data, so check the checkout page on the official site for the applicable offer. Offers can change, and it is worth verifying the terms before you pay.
Customer support
Support is available by email at support@thetradingpit.com. The firm uses this address for payout questions and general enquiries. We did not verify live chat or phone options, so check the contact page for other channels. For rule questions, it is sensible to get written answers before you trade, since a misunderstanding can cost you the account.
Restricted countries
The Trading Pit does not accept traders from Burundi, Canada, Cuba, Iran, North Korea, South Sudan, Sudan or the United States of America. If you live in one of these countries, you cannot use the service, so check your eligibility before paying any fees.
Who The Trading Pit is for
The Trading Pit suits experienced CFD traders who can follow detailed rules, manage lot sizes carefully and accept the discipline a funded program requires. Traders who want a conventional broker account with few restrictions may prefer a different model. If you are comparing prop firms, you may also want to review FundingPips or FundedNext to see how other firms structure their rules and payouts.
Trading involves significant risk, and you can lose more than you expect, including the cost of challenge fees. Only trade with money you can afford to lose, and make sure you fully understand the rules before you start.
